Drive Through Magic
The headlining feature at the end of the modified route was the light show tunnel. Over a quarter mile of PVC pipe and almost a 1000 feet of Light-O-Rama (LOR) smart pixels created the 200 foot long tunnel. Programmed by a magician of an electrical engineer, the system was run off of a Raspberry Pi using a Falcon Player OS. The Falcon Player was scheduled and operated remotely, making this a very low-maintenance spectacle. The Pi broke out via serial bus to communicate with the LOR Pixie controllers, and via analog audio connection to an RF transmitter, bringing the show into the vehicles of attendees. A large number of staff and volunteers came together to attach the smart pixels to the PVC arches, as well as to put the arches in place. The finished show was a sight to behold and was definitely the crowned jewel of the event.
